What To Do When Teeth Get the Wobbles

Wobbly Teeth

Some time after your child has a full set of milk teeth, a pretty big change starts to happen in their mouths: their big teeth start to come through.

These permanent teeth will have been growing in the gums for some time, but when your child gets to about six, the first big tooth will start to travel through the gum. As it does so, it’ll dissolve the root of the milk tooth (the part that holds it in place), making it wobbly.

As the big tooth keeps growing, it’ll push the little tooth out completely to make room for your child’s big-toothed grin.

If you’d like to know more about the permanent teeth that will soon fill the gaps, check out the Big Teeth section.

What to do when their tooth falls out

Getting wobbly teeth can be a pretty exciting time for kids. Not only do they get to poke and prod their newly loose tooth with their tongue, they also have a visit from the Tooth Fairy to look forward to!

So if you want to make their Tooth Fairy visit extra-special, why not write a tiny note from her to your child and slip it under their pillow?

And if you want a fun activity that’ll let your child have a closer look at the gap in their growing gums, you can try doing some Big Kid Bites or go on a Cave Search.
